5/22/05 - Beers Play First Game (L, 14-2)This weekend's game had some good news and some bad news. First the good news: It finally happened, The Beers actually played their first game. The bad news is that they took a loss. But a loss earned is infinately better than a forfeit. MA had some control problems out of the gate, but soon settled in and got into a groove. The defense behind him could've used some work. Many chances to get out of jams were squandered by errors. The Beers' defense looked even worse than the Yankees and Mets this weekend. We're still calculating the penalties everyone owes.
Our record is 0-3 (current standings can be found
here), but that could be transformed to 1-2 if we are able to make up that May 7th forfeit against the Clippers (assuming we win). We're waiting for final approval, but The Clippers have expressed interest and the fields are available all day Saturday, so the last piece of the puzzle is getting umpires. If we can get umpires,
everyone should be ready to play this Saturday (5/28) so we can try to erase that forfeit. More details coming soon...
