These games were pretty much must-win for The Beers for them to have any hope of an unlikely playoff appearance. The Midnight Express were able to take both games (although they were both very close).
In the first game, The Beers jumped on the Midnight Express' starting pitcher early. Nigel Stephens hit a long leadoff HR to left and Andrew Pobuda followed a few batters later with a 2-run shot over the Right-Centerfield fence. The owner of a Chrysler minivan was not so happy about it. Ozzie went 2-3 with 2 RBI. Jay pitched with the lead and pitched well. But an error, a hit batsman and a few timely hits from the Midnight led to a big 6th inning that the Beers couldn't rebound from (despite having a couple chances).
Game 2 saw more good chances going to waste. Andrew was in a groove allowing only 1 run until the 5th inning when the heat got to him. After a quick break and 2 italian ices he was feeling better and back in the game as EH. Tom came in and pitched a great rest of the game. He also was a HR short of the cycle. In the bottom of the 7th, Peter Darling was able to drive in the Beers' only run on a fielder's choice, but he ended up being stranded as the winning run with the tying run on 3rd.

There will be no podcast this week. If anyone wants to do it, they are welcome to.
I will most likely be out of town over the next week or so spordically so there will be no podcasts from me until further notice |

| You can only kick me off once even though you wrote it twice and I accept until the next game, maybe even through the next game |

Ok.. we're gonna need a volunteer. Since having a week go by without a podcast is not an option, someone will have to step up to the plate. Any volunteers? Clark? _________________ Get yourself some Super cool Beers gear |

Then you are hereby banned from the car and while we're at it the upper west side and Astoria. Keep it up and gramercy park and park slope are next and I am not joking.
As far as the podcast, whose rating are in the toilet and probably going to be replaced by infomercials for the RONCO showtime BBQ (set it and forget it), if people really want this, and I mean enough people, not Adam and his aliases, I will do it even though I wasn't watching game 1 and wasn't there for game 2. I would prefer if someone wants to do it, you can do it over the phone, I can make that happen.
So, Clark, if you want to do it, let me know. I will be here. |

yeah - do the podcast but lay off mel gibson - i am sure he didn't mean to say that stuff, and after all he grew up in australia, the most racist country in the world, so that makes it kinda ok. Example, like the time a load of boat people showed up in australian waters and we tried to sink the boat to stop them getting in - not even the usa would do that (and even if they did they sure as hell wouldn't admit to it). Buy the way Mike - please don't call immigration on me, I am holding out for the next greencard amnesty.
On a side issue - has anybody noticed we have sank to last in the power rankings - that is just plain rude (ok, we kind of suck but does the league have to bring everyones attention to it?). Mike D, cant you use your MVP powers to do something about that? Or just slip them 20 bucks to make us the second last most powerful team or something? |

I think we'll just have to get out of last in the power rankings by winning.
We've got a good team, our big problem seems to be leaving people on base. I haven't kept track of it (I will next year) but I'm sure our average with RISP is awful. If we string together a few well timed hits we should win more games (duh). Plus we need to stop making stupid errors.
I think if we had this exact team at the start of the year, we'd be over .500 and in contention. It's taken us a while, but we're finally figuring things out.
Oh yeah, speaking of average with RISP, and I just want to give props to Ozzie for having the best left on base to at bat ratio. 9 LOB to 47 at bats. He often seems to come through, hence the 8 RBIs. The rest of us need to close the gap! |

I will not lay off of Mel Gibson. He is an idiot and it has nothing to do with being an antisemite. Or maybe it does. Either way, Israel is fighting a war right now against muslim extremists and this idiot goes on a tirade about how Jews start all the wars. I have thrown away my Braveheart posters and my Mel Gibson action figures. You are dead to me Mel...Take That!!!
I don't call immigration on people who speak english. Just Mexicans and Philipinos....and the French, maybe Canadians. Dominicans. Anyone from the middle east minus Israel and the UAE. People from Vermont and anyone from South America, minus Chile. The island of Tonga, Madagascar, Northern Africa using the Congo as the border but not the Congo. Eastern Europe and the far east, espcially the Chinese!!! That's it, those are the only people I would call immigration on. |
